Choosing a lifting system for your workshop or yard? Two names come up again and again: caput Crane et gantry Crane . At a glance they look almost identical — a horizontal bridge, a trolley, a hoist. But the way each one is supported changes everything: where you can install it, how much it costs, and how flexible it will be when your production layout changes.
Too many buyers only discover the difference after the steel is on the ground — when the building structure can't carry the load, or when the "portable" crane turns out to be anything but. This guide explains the real differences and gives you a practical checklist so you can spec the right machine the first time.
An caput Crane — also called a cateracta pontis an EOT crane (electric overhead traveling crane) — currunt in railes elevatis quae ad columnas aedificii et structuram tecti sunt fixatae. Pons latitudinem cunei transversat, rotae extremorum vehiculorum in trabibus cursus current, et machina cum machina levandi in ponte movetur ut onera levare et in omnem partem cunei transferre possit.
Caracteres claves:
| Aspectus | Caput Crane | Gantry Crane |
|---|---|---|
| Structura supportiva | Faber travius cursus | Crura fundo fixata |
| Requisita loci | Necesse est structura aedificii iam existens | Sustinet se ipsum; intra aut extra aedificium |
| Spatium Pavimenti | Liberat spatium fundi ad alia opera | Crura occupant spatium fundi; vias transitus tene puras |
| Mobilitas | Mobilis fixus secundum tramitem | Potest esse mobilis super rotulis/rotellis |
| Pretium Instaurationis | Assessio structurae + installatio rurum; parvus pretium instrumentorum | Nulla dependentia a structura; pretium instrumentorum altius |
| Typica Applicationes | Aedificia fabricae, officinae machinarum, horrea | Areae exteriores, aedificia praefabricata, elaboratio tabularum, depositio ferri |
Quia haec fabrica saepe opus ingens tractant et reconfigurantur cum lineae productorum mutantur, self-supporting, re-locatable gantry structure is a natural fit.
HRCK Hongrui CNC designs and builds gantry-based automation for panel processing — from gantry CNC machines with rigid, vibration-dampened structures to vacuum panel loading and stacking systems that integrate directly with conveyor lines. If you are planning a gantry setup, our engineers can recommend the configuration that matches your workpiece size, line layout and budget.
